Ready for a huge update on life, writing, and all the creative projects in the works? ‘Cause I’ve got big things coming!

My Second Novel
“Children of the Solus” is the working title for my second novel. I finished up the third draft on this bad boy and sent it out to beta readers last Fall. Feedback was mostly positive, but there are definitely a few changes that need to be made.
So, as it stands, “Children of the Solus” is now in its fourth revision, and I remain optimistic that this will be the last big edit before I start shopping it around to literary agents.
More on that to come.
A Third Novel?
“What’s this?” you might ask. “You’re already working on the next novel?”
You’re darn right I am! And we’re taking a whole new approach with this one. That’s right, “we!” My lovely wife, the ever-glorious Miranda Doremus-Reznor, is co-authoring this one with me, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. Here’s a little teaser:
It’s been three years since Kyt last saw her mother. She’d left in search for answers to the question of Kyt’s growing and unstable powers. But as the months turned into years, Kyt all but lost hope that she would ever see her mother again.
So when word reaches home that one of the last people to see her mother alive is in town, Kyt chases the lead head-on. Kyt soon finds herself delving into ancient dungeons, dodging bullets in magical shootouts, and battling undead-worshipping cultists. And the more she retraces her mother’s steps, the more the mystery of her powers unfolds.
“The Prism Child” (working title) is a fantasy/western about a magical gunslinger on a journey to find her mother. Think “Avatar: Legend of Korra” meets “Red Country” by Joe Abercrombie.
And here’s another curveball: Not only will this novel be co-authored by my favorite person in the world, it’s also going to be serialized! This means that you’ll be able to read Kyt’s story as it unfolds.
We’re still considering our options for the best platform for our story, so keep an eye out for further announcements on where to find it.
More Big News!
I’m starting a YouTube channel!
I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, “slow down Maurice!”
Well, I’m NOT slowing down! I’m getting geared up to start my own YouTube channel! It’s going to feature content about storytelling, writing, table-top roleplaying games, and maybe even some book reviews. I’m still in the early stages of planning this thing, but the idea for this channel has been lodged in my head for weeks now, and the time has come to just do it. So keep an eye out for that, too!
Until the next post,
