I once heard it said that the journey to becoming a professional writer requires one to constantly master a skill sets. I am quickly finding this to be true. The most important skills to develop as a writer are, of course, those found under the umbrella of the craft of writing itself, i.e. mastering the art of language to write characters, pacing, dialogue, etc.
What continues to surprise and periodically blindside me are the roadblocks to success as a professional writer that can only be hurdled once you master a new skill. I’m talking about learning to schmooze (networking can get you far, they say), engaging with social media to develop a following (readers), and yes, learning to design one’s own website.
I had much to learn. There’s the technical stuff like web hosting and domains. The art of design is much more difficult. I find myself reloading the page, making tweaks, then reloading again (repeated ad nauseum).
So, here it is. I present to you my very own Author’s Website complete with an author bio, links to social media, and a place to sign up for my newsletter. It’s a work in progress. More bells and whistles coming soon. Enjoy!
